Pre- RF MIcroneedling Care Instructions:
Hydrate: moisturize skin in the morning and evening, and drink at least 8 glasses of water per day to completely hydrate your skin and optimize treatment results.
Medications: you may be asked to get a prescription for anti-viral medication prophylaxis, 3-4 days prior to the procedure if you are undergoing a deeper peel, or have a history of Herpes Simplex to avoid outbreak.
Topical retinoid: should be discontinued 3-4 days prior to treatment. Discontinue any irritant topical agents for 2-3 days prior to treatment.
Sun Exposure: Avoid any prolonged direct exposure to the sun, if you must be in the sun use a zinc oxide sunscreen of at least SPF 30+. Also avoid self-tanner and spray tanning for 7- 10 days prior to treatment.
Antiocoagulants: Avoid taking anticoagulants for 10 days before treatment, if medical condition allows. Consult with your physician.
Cosmetic Injections: Avoid receiving neuromodulators (Botox/Dysport) 14 days pre-Fractora. Fillers should be avoided 2-4 weeks pre-Fractora, depending on the areas being filled (ie: lips - 2 weeks, cheeks/chin/jaw - 4 weeks). Both neuromodulators and fillers are safe 48 hours post Fractora.
Post-RF Microneedling Care Instructions:
Immediately after treatment, most patients will experience a clinical endpoint of erythema (redness) for 1-3 days, however for more aggressive treatments this may last longer. Slight to moderate edema (swelling) and a mild to moderate sunburn sensation are also common post treatment and may last 1-3 days. Skin may crust and peel for 2-7 days.
Treat the skin gently, avoid scrubbing or trauma to the treated area. Use water only or a gentle cleanser, like Cetaphil or anything Natology provides, for the first 24-72 hours. After 72 hours you may return to your original cleanser, however continue to avoid active products with AHAs, BHAs, Benzoyl Peroxide, or Tea Tree for 7 days.
Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation (darker pigmentation). Make sure to use a physical sun block SPF 30+ after 24-48 hours to prevent any sun damage/hyperpigmentation.
Multiple treatments over a period of several months may be required to achieve the desired response. You may notice immediate as well as longer term improvements in your skin.
