PRP / PRF REJUVENATION
PRE-PROCEDURE INSTRUCTIONS & TIPS
DIET AND FLUID INTAKE
Please increase your intake of fluid the day before your procedure by simply drinking 2 glasses of water in the morning before your PRP session, 2 glasses at lunch and 2 glasses at dinner. (Please don’t drink water too late in the evening or you’ll be up using the washroom at night.)
On the actual day of your procedure, simply drink a bottle of water (500 mL) before your session.
Please eat a normal breakfast or lunch the day of your PRP session.
SUPPLEMENTS
Discontinue blood-thinning agents such as vitamin E, vitamin A, ginko, garlic, flax, cod liver oil or essential fatty acids at least one week before your treatment.
Please stop taking multivitamins one week before your procedure as well.
It’s fine to continue taking iron and vitamin D.
ALCOHOL AND SMOKING
If possible, avoid consuming alcohol for three days before your PRP session.
If possible, stop smoking or limit smoking for three days prior to your procedure. The earlier you stop smoking the better as we find smoking really impacts on the healing process!
MEDICATIONS
• Avoid aspirin, Advil, Motrin, ibuprofen, naproxen, Voltaren and other anti-inflammatory medications for 3 days before your procedure (if possible, please avoid for 7 days). We want inflammation to occur – as this is one mechanism by which PRP works! You may take Tylenol for any discomforts or joint pains you may have.
PRE-CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
TO PREPARE FOR THE BLOOD DRAW ASSOCIATED WITH PRP THERAPY
PRP Therapy is very safe because cells from the patient’s own blood are used, which means there are no preservatives and no chance of the body rejecting the cells. The primary risks and discomforts are related to the blood draw where there is a slight pinch to insert the needle for collection and there is a potential for bruising at the site.
During the course of your treatments, notify our staff of any changes to your medical history, health status or personal activities that may be relevant to your treatment.
POST-CARE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR OPTIMAL RESULTS:
Immediately after your PRP/PRF procedure, your practitioner may apply a face mask, moisturizer and sunscreen topically.
Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen, Motrin or Advil. These agents will interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is critical and responsible for your skin rejuvenation.
Use Tylenol only as needed for any soreness.
Avoid sun exposure for 3 days and, if possible, 10 days. Apply a minimum of SPF 30 every 2 hours.
Do not pick at or scratch treated skin, but instead keep it moisturized.
Avoid strenuous exercise or sweating for 24 hours due to open pores.
You may clean your face with cool water and gently pat dry no earlier than 4 hours after treatment.
Cool compresses may be applied for excessive discomfort, burning, redness or swelling.
Mineral makeup may be applied after 24 hours.
Restart regular skin care regimen in 48 hours and Retin A in 72 hours.

REPEAT TREATMENT AND MAINTENANCE
Multiple treatments are recommended for best results (series may range from of 3 – 5 treatments every 4 weeks).
Generally we recommend repeating the treatment 2 times a year for maintenance. Talk to us about PRP/PRF for men’s and women’s hair loss.
